Perfect Stillness: The Greatest State

There are few external stimulants which can rival that yogic meditative feeling. When you have practiced asana, pranayama, and meditation; Circulating vital energy through the whole body, removing all blockages, and then just sitting there... Not many feelings can compare.

Don’t get me wrong, I love external stimulation as much as anyone. I love reading, exercising, sex, getting high... Its all so fun.

But that yogic state of bliss is something else. To be completely still, yet with zero effort or tension; your energy just swaying with the breeze, fully relaxed and fully awake... That is what I model as an ideal state.

It’s not easy to live there 24/7. We all deal with the pressures of modern life. But the practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation (postures, breath, and meditation), can help us re-claim this state regularly. Constant practice is the basic method. Intention also helps.

But yoga can take many forms. What practice helps you to feel calm and awake, effortlessly floating with the tides of life?
